You may experience an error when trying to upload files to a mapped FTP/S resource using JSCAPE Secure FTP Server SFTP service and WinSCP client. Use case is as follows:

1. Create a FTP resource and map that resource to a virtual directory for a JSCAPE Secure FTP Server user.

2. Connect to JSCAPE Secure FTP Server SFTP service using WinSCP and change directory to virtual directory created in Step 1.

3. Attempt to upload a file to this directory.

Error received in WinSCP is:

General failure (server should provide error description).
Error code: 4
Error message from server (en): error changing attributes
Request code: 9

The reason for this error is that resource FTP server does not support MDTM command for use in setting timestamp of file when uploaded to FTP server. This error will not occur on FTP servers that support using MDTM command to change timestamp on files uploaded to FTP server, or on SFTP clients that do not attempt to preserve the timestamp.

To resolve this issue, change settings in WinSCP client to disable preserving timestamp as follows:

"Options > Preferences > Transfer > Preserve timestamp"
